Bamboo floors are beautiful and durable, yet many people have complaints following installation. Most common are complaints of buckling and dark areas. If you follow a couple of very simple steps during bamboo flooring installation, these problems can be avoided. Your bamboo flooring will need time to acclimate to the area in which you plan to install it. The flooring should never be installed immediately following purchase. Allowing the flooring planks to sit in the room, where they will be installed, is necessary. A couple weeks should do the trick, but some people allow the planks to just sit and adjust for even longer than that. When it comes time for installation, bamboo flooring should never be installed one box at a time. Due to color variations in the wood, dark areas develop when the planks are installed in this manner. It is important to use planks out of several boxes at one time. This will ensure that light colored planks are not installed in one area and dark colored planks in another.
